My name is Matteo Appignanesi and I was born on the 12th of October 1975 in Marche, one of the central Italy regions with the greatest landscape variety, from the sea to the mountains through beautiful countryside and green hills, characterized by gorgeous Historic Centres from the early 18th century.
In 1993, I graduated as an electrical technician and completed a specialization course in ‘Automation and Quality Control’.
Until I was 21, I always looked for the ‘right dimension’ where I could express my innate technical and artistic talents.
In 1995, immediately, after coming back from mandatory military service, I’ve participated in the recruitment to join the iGuzzini company at Strategic Marketing Department. Against all possible odds, fortunately they chose me and I was able to begin my adventure in the incredible world of Light! From the beginning, I have gained technical skills, method and great attention to the Light, being able to build a 360° vision on a global scale.
In 1999, during a business travel, I had the opportunity to meet a true ‘illuminate’ in the world of Light, today a very close Friend, who pointed out to me that I had a great unexpressed potential.
Thanks to this meeting, at the end of 1999 I decided to make a change by setting up my own business; I left my workplace in one of the largest European company and I founded Luxage Illuminotecnica.
Having been in contact with a number of salesmen, I could guess that the production companies would have to raise the level of offered service, being able to count on sales technicians capable of speaking and designing Light.
Although I was young, companies such as Targetti Sankey, Hess, Wever&Doucrè, Luce&Light, Stral, Esse-ci and many others, believed in the Luxage philosophy and gave me full confidence!
Fortunately, things went well and for many years that followed, I was able to continue my education path close to Large Companies.
In 2003, in parallel to my main activity as a lighting consultant, having always been passionate about Architecture and Design, I founded Format Studio Design Arredamenti, a turnkey architecture and interior design company in the Hospitality, Fashion and Food fields.
Thanks to the work I have done, I had the opportunity to collaborate with many Lighting Designers, understanding that there was a lack of a specialized player able to create custom-made luminaires and lighting systems for them.
In 2007, I decided to found LAM32, a company focused in the design and production of Bespoke lighting fixtures.
From 2007 to 2021, LAM32 has contributed to the realization of many projects in different countries around the world such as Undergrounds, Large Shopping Centers, Hotels, Private Villas, Historical Centres, Parks, Waterfronts as well as obtaining several international product awards such as:

Moved once again by the desire for renewal, in 2022 I founded LDI, Light Design Intelligence, with the mission to bring New Light and Innovation to projects all over the world.
Thanks to the experience gained in almost 30 years of Light, with my team we can confidently go out of the Ordinary and Banal, bringing “Intelligence” in each aspect of the project where I personally ensure high level and uncompromising results!
I believe I am a very lucky person and I handle this with Passion and Respect for the Environment where our children will have to live tomorrow.
